data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>REQUIREMENTS:<\/strong><\/p><p>OHIO FIRE CODE 5704.2.13.1.3. Any tank that has been abandoned for a period of one year shall be removed from the property or be abandoned in place.<\/p><p>ABANDONMENT IN PLACE CRITERIA &#8211; API 1604 &#8211;\u00a0 Disposal of a tank in place should be considered in the following cases:<\/p><ul><li>Because of tank location\u00a0 adjacent structures may be damaged\u00a0 or weakened;<\/li><li>Removal may be physically impossible<\/li><li>Removal may incur excessive costs<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-5dbd158 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"5dbd158\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-15fb8bf\" data-id=\"15fb8bf\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-inner-section elementor-element elementor-element-d1f43b3 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"d1f43b3\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-17fc728\" data-id=\"17fc728\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6e49880 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6e49880\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><b><span style=\"font-size: 13.0pt;\">PROCEDURE FOR REMOVAL:<\/span><\/b><\/p><ol><li>Choose a contractor. Any contractor can be used and a quick internet search of: &#8220;Excavating Contractors&#8221;, &#8220;Contractors General&#8221; or &#8220;Tanks &#8211; Removal&#8221; will provide potential contractors. A list of contractors who have removed\u00a0 tanks in the Madeira\u00a0 and Indian Hill area is available from the Fire District.\u00a0 The Madeira\u00a0 and Indian Hill Joint Fire District\u00a0 does not recommend or approve any companies.<\/li><li>Obtain a site clearance or permit from Village of Indian Hill or Madeira depending on tank location.<\/li><li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/mihjfd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/APPLICATION-TANK-PERMIT.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Obtain a permit from the Fire Department<\/a><\/span>.<\/strong> There is a $100.00 fee for the permit.\u00a0<\/li><li>Schedule the tank removal. The removal must be scheduled 24 hours in advance.\u00a0 The tank may be removed\u00a0 between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:00 PM Monday through Friday.<\/li><li>The tank may be uncovered and all lines disconnected prior to the inspector&#8217;s arrival. The Inspector will witness the tank removal and check the hole for gross contamination.\u00a0 Gross contamination is defined as product in the hole or dirt that is discolored and\u00a0 has an odor of the product.\u00a0 Soil testing is not required.<\/li><li>If the hole is not grossly contaminated, it can be filled with dirt and the site restored. If there is gross contamination,\u00a0 the contaminated dirt must be excavated or some other approve clean up method used.\u00a0 The Fire district does not recommend any\u00a0 particular clean up method.<\/li><li>The tank must be cut and cleaned before it can be hauled away.<\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-8251ee1\" data-id=\"8251ee1\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ea46c4d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ea46c4d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h1 style=\"margin-left: 1.0in; text-indent: -.5in;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><b style=\"font-size: 14px; color: #7a7a7a;\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.0pt;\">PROCEDURE FOR ABANDONMENT IN PLACE:<\/span><\/b><\/h1><ol><li>Submit written documentation requesting abandonment in place.\u00a0 This would include:\u00a0 tank location; structure location;\u00a0 costs; and possible damage that may occur.\u00a0 The Fire District will make a determination for or against abandonment in place based on the data submitted.<\/li><li>Obtain site clearance or permit from Village of Indian Hill or City of Madeira depending on tank location.<\/li><li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/mihjfd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/APPLICATION-TANK-PERMIT.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Obtain a permit form the Madeira &amp; Indian Hill Joint Fire District<\/a>.<\/span><\/strong> There is a $100.00 fee for the permit.\u00a0<\/li><li>Schedule the tank for filling with inert material.\u00a0 This must be scheduled 24 hours in advance.\u00a0 The tank may be filled between the hours of 8:30 am\u00a0 and 4:00 PM\u00a0 Monday through Friday.<\/li><li>Remove all flammable or combustible liquid from the tank and connecting lines.<\/li><li>Clean the tank of all sludge.<\/li><li>Disconnect the suction, inlet, gauge, and vent lines<\/li><li>Fill the tank completely with an inert solid material. Cap remaining underground piping.<\/li><li>The owner of the tank shall keep a permanent record of tank size, location, date of abandonment, and method used for placing the abandoned tank in a safe condition.<\/li><\/ol><p style=\"margin-left: 1.0in; text-indent: -.5in;\">\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section
